Start with 12, 14, 16 AWG bright copper bus wires which serve as excellent conductors, limiting voltage drop on long runs.  Encase each bus in an extruded FEP jacket.  Combine two bus wires with an FEP jacket.  Then wrap nichrome wire (heating element) around this jacket and apply a highly conductive material at the trimmed module (contact point) on alternating buses.  Extrude a color coded FEP insulating jacket over this heat element.  Optional metal braids are available – tinned copper is most commonly used to provide a grounding path as required by NEC;  nickel plated copper braids are available for more corrosive environments.  An additional FEP overjacket can be extruded over the braid for very corrosive situations.
